Wolff promises a big change at Mercedes after Hamilton bombed out at the US GP.

The lower a team finishes in the Championship, the more time it will be awarded, meaning third-place Mercedes will receive more than Red Bull and Ferrari. “In the whole of 2021 we were the leading team and then we won the Constructors’ Championship,” added Wolff. “So, during the middle of 2022, we had seven per cent less time in the wind tunnel during these 18 months for Red Bull and much less than for Ferrari.

“Now it will be the other way around: we are going to have 14 percent more as [may] finishing third so over time that’s exactly what the regulations were designed to do and should give us some potential to regain some of the lead [that Red Bull and Ferrari have].”
