Hugh Jackman said he wasn’t really interested in playing Sandra Bullock’s romantic interest in “Miss Congeniality.” speaking to VarietyThe actor said he only auditioned for the part after his agent pressured him to go, as landing the part would allow them to trade another rom-com Jackman had been offered at the time. “Someone Like You” with Ashley Judd. “No one knew ‘X-Men’ yet,” she recalled. “I was a nobody.”
Unfortunately for Jackman and his agent, the actor botched his audition after being poorly prepared and unable to keep up with Bullock. While reading lines with the Oscar winner, Jackman remembers thinking, “‘My goodness! She’s amazing! And so fast and fast. I’m not even vaguely up to date here.'” She was pedaling as fast as she could, but she didn’t know the script well enough.'” He explained that it was the first time he had tried another actor for a role, and Bullock.
