Midfield: Steven Gerrard
After Terry’s shocking affair with Bridge’s ex-partner, Gerrard became captain of the World Cup in South Africa.
It certainly was a positive for the Three Lions against the USA, putting them ahead with just four minutes left.
Gerrard is currently unemployed as a manager, having been sacked by Aston Villa last month. He’s being predicted a return to the Rangers, especially with that hot seat now free.
Midfield: Frank Lampard
Lampard and Gerrard sounded like a world-class midfield on paper. Certainly both players were among the best their generation had to offer.
The 44-year-old has won all the major trophies at Chelsea and since hanging up his boots, he has taken charge of Derby and the Blues.
Lampard is now a manager at Everton, but it’s a tough job at Goodison Park and there’s a feeling he could soon be out of a job as the season comes to a close.
Right: Aaron Lennon
David Beckham was expected to start at right for England when they faced the United States 12 years ago, having won the Capello round.
However, injury struck and the former Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and PSG star joined Capello and his coaching staff on the bench.
Then Aaron Lennon was cast in his place. He was playing until recently, but retired from football at the end of last season following Burnley’s relegation to the Championship.
