Last week, S Club 7 announced that they are back for a 25th anniversary tour. The ’90s pop group is set to embark on an 11-show tour across the UK from October before wrapping up at The O2 Arena in London. However, before the big reunion, there are occasional concerts by the band and at the last one only one member turned up for a sold-out concert.
The S Club 7 concert in Newport, Isle of Wight was scheduled for Bradley McIntosh and Tina Barrett to perform as a duo. The £23 ticketed concert in a 150 seat bar sold out in less than 90 seconds. However, the fans in attendance were left furious after Tina failed to show up, forcing Bradley to perform a solo concert.
Wyld, who organized the events, said they were “disappointed” and explained that the decision was made due to contractual obligations following the recently announced 25th anniversary tour. However, they thanked the fans who attended for the “fun and memorable” evening.
However, furious attendees unleashed their anger over the change on social media.
One fan wrote: “Absolutely furious!! I paid a lot of money to see two members of the S Club 7 and only one showed up. We were not notified about this either.”
Another said: “What a disappointment. Showed up to find out that they can’t act as S Club since they signed a contract and not Tina. However, happy to take everyone’s money.”
One tweeted: “What a disappointing night. I felt so bad for Bradley.”
Bradley and Tina will be joined by Hannah Spearritt, Jo O’Meara, Jon Lee, Paul Cattermole and Rachel Stevens for the full line-up tour later this year.
The band said in a combined statement: “After eight years, it feels amazing to announce that we will be reuniting and performing together again. We are so excited to bring the S Club Party back to our fans across the country to celebrate 25 years of S Club 7. We can’t believe it’s been so long! Music and friendship have always been at the center of everything we’ve done. We hope you all can join us for a great party!
