Ronaldo makes retirement claim to Morgan as Man Utd prepares response

Piers Morgan has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo has recently told him that he wants to hang up his boots when he is ‘around’ 40 years old. The Manchester United striker took part in an explosive interview with the journalist in which he criticized manager Erik ten Hag and his superior powers at his club.
Ronaldo was heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford over the summer, with his agent Jorge Mendes actively seeking a way out for his client by holding talks with rival teams such as Chelsea. However, the player did not see the summer in the same way.
Reports circulated that the reason for Ronaldo’s desperation to shorten his return home was to play in the Champions League and thus protect his records in the competition. The Portuguese international did not deny those claims with Morgan, although he did reveal that he felt Ten Hag was forcing him to leave United.
There are few clubs financially capable of signing Ronaldo, and his age (37) will lead many to question the acquisition. Although Morgan has insisted that Ronaldo does not plan to retire imminently, he told talkSPORT: “He said he wants to retire around 40 for me.

Ronaldo’s explosive interview has rocked the football world, with United wondering how they will deal with the former Real Madrid star ahead of the January transfer window. According to The Telegraph, the Red Devils have called an emergency meeting to discuss how they will try to resolve the matter.
Ten Hag, Executive Director Richard Arnold and Director John Murtough will be in attendance, and Joel Glazer will request to be kept informed of the discussions and the decision reached. It remains to be seen how United hit back at his number 7 and whether he chooses to act before the World Cup in Qatar or wait until the striker returns from international duty.
