Ronaldo claims Man Utd bosses ‘didn’t believe’ his daughter was ill

Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed Manchester United bosses did not believe him when he told them his newborn daughter was ill in the summer. The 37-year-old explained to Piers Morgan why he was absent from pre-season in his explosive interview.
Ronaldo missed the start of Erik ten Hag’s reign amid his desire to leave United, but reports clarified his absence was due to staying with his family while his newborn daughter was ill. And now he has revealed that he felt United’s higher-ups doubted he was sincere, admitting he ‘hurt’ them.
He said: “I spoke to the Manchester United board and president. They kind of didn’t believe something was wrong, which made me feel bad. They believed, but just the same, I’m never going to change.” the health of my family because of soccer. Never. Now, neither ten years ago nor in future.
“It’s something that hurt a lot because they doubted my word and that I fought, especially Belle and Jill. I didn’t go to preseason for that, because I wouldn’t let anything happen to my family during preseason. I don’t think it’s fair, and that’s why I didn’t go.”

United figures were not made aware of Ronaldo’s decision to speak out publicly against them until they were returning from Sunday’s 2-1 Premier League win at Fulham. On Monday, the club issued a statement regarding Ronaldo’s interview with Morgan. It read: “Manchester United take note of media coverage of an interview with Cristiano Ronaldo.
“The club will consider your response after all the facts have been established. Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness that is being built between the players, coach, staff and fans.”

According to The Telegraph, there is an acceptance at United that Ronaldo should never play for the club again after his shocking interview. And the Red Devils will consider opting out of his contract in the January transfer window if they can avoid a huge reward for the remaining six months, which would cost more than £13m.
United are cautious about destroying their relationship with one of the best players in their history. But Ronaldo is expected to demand a fee to terminate his contract, which could further strain his relationship with the club and Ten Hag once the World Cup is over.
