Raducanu’s ex-coach explains decision to cut ties over ‘red flags’

Emma Raducanu’s former coach Dmitry Tursunov has spoken out about his recent split from the British star, admitting there were “red flags” he couldn’t ignore. Raducanu, 19, is looking for her fifth manager in 16 months after Tursunov opted not to extend an initial trial period to a longer partnership.
Tursunov continued to praise Raducanu’s character on and off the tennis court, but admitted that it would be a two-and-a-half-year project. He added, “She’s absolutely great, she’s very hard-working and doesn’t think or act like she’s a superstar. She is hungry to improve and is obsessed with tennis. So I really loved working with her, and I really wanted it to work.”
Raducanu has already shown a willingness to change his coaches in such a short time, but it is believed that he wanted to extend his association with Tursunov, while the search for his successor continues.
He stopped working with Andrew Richardson after his US Open victory, starting with Nigel Sears and then signing Torben Beltz before moving to Tursunov. However, he has added Andy Murray’s former fitness trainer, Jez Green, to his team.
