Overwatch 2 November 15 update patch notes, release time and changes

Overwatch fans are counting down to the release of the November 15 update. If it’s anything like the downloads above, Overwatch 2’s next major update is likely to be released at 6:00pm GMT in the UK. According to the first patch notes revealed by Blizzard, Overwatch 2’s mammoth new update will make a host of balance changes to various heroes. The main focus will be on newcomer Kiriko, as well as D.va, Zarya, Genji, and Sombra. The full list of patch notes will be revealed when the update is released on November 15. Meanwhile, the current list of balance changes can be seen below.
Overwatch November 15 update patch notes…
shade
• Hack skill lockout duration reduced from 1.75 to 1.5 seconds.
• Hacked enemies are no longer valid targets to hack for the duration of the effect.
• Hacked damage multiplier reduced from 40 to 25%
Developer Comment: With Sombra’s rework, he gained a lot more damage to help explain Hack’s reduced ability lock duration.
This has proven too deadly for a flanker with easy access to the enemy rear. We have also changed the damage output of Tracer, Reaper and Genji in the 5v5 format.
You also can’t channel the hack into an already hacked target, as feedback indicated that the reduced cooldown combined with the stealthy hack proved too frustrating for many players. It’s basically a per-target cooldown that allows Hack to keep his current 4 second cooldown to potentially hack multiple targets.
Genji
• Max ammo reduced from 30 to 24
• Shuriken damage reduced from 29 to 27
Developer Comment: Genji is a hero who has benefited greatly from the move to 5v5.
Switching to a single tank and reduced crowd control means Genji has had fewer obstacles in his way, however he hasn’t received tuning updates as he wasn’t actively in the meta until launch (something also informed by our preference general to avoid preemptive adjustments when possible).
We also saw that in early beta testing other secondary heroes like Tracer and Reaper were also significantly more effective in OW2. These changes will bring Genji more in line with the other flanking damage heroes.
zarya
• Barrier duration reduced from 2.5 to 2 seconds
• Barrier cooldown increased from 10 seconds to 11 seconds.
Developer Comment: Early player sentiment predicted that Zarya would be one of the weaker solo tanks in 5v5, though her high damage potential and barrier uptime have proven to be extremely effective.
To opponents, feedback has indicated that this can feel like Zarya has very limited windows of vulnerability, which feels unwieldy when combined with her increasing damage potential.
These changes will reduce the uptime of the barrier, making it a bit harder for her to gain energy and giving enemies more time to deal damage to her.
dva
• Fusion Cannon spread increased from 3.5 to 3.75
• Reduced impact damage of buffs from 25 to 15.
Developer Comment: D.va ended up feeling too deadly after the last round of changes due to how resilient she can be with the buffed defense matrix. Both our stats and feedback from high level players felt that it was previously not effective enough compared to other tanks, so this is a partial change to settle a middle ground there.
It’s there
• Swift Step invulnerability duration reduced from 0.4 to 0.25 seconds.
Developer Comment: This invulnerability window is primarily intended to help avoid dying instantly from something unseen after teleporting through walls, but it ended up being too long and led to some confusion when shooting Kiriko.
