Next James Bond, the favorite of the odds, “close to signing an agreement to be the new 007”

It’s been over a year since Daniel Craig retired as 007 in No Time To Die and fans continue to eagerly speculate who will succeed the departing star. Over the past year, the bookies’ next James Bond odds have been a close race between the likes of Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy and Idris Elba. However, after reports of a star’s alleged secret audition, the man in question has become the favorite out of nowhere.

A couple of weeks ago, insiders at The Sun claimed that Kick-Ass star Aaron-Taylor-Johnson had had a screen test to be the next Bond in September. Take this with a pinch of salt, but apparently, producer Barbara Broccoli, 32, made a huge impression and is now a top contender for the role.

The Bullet Train star is certainly the right age to take on 007 and has plenty of action movie experience, which would be perfect for Ian Fleming’s spy. And now the same outlet is reporting that the actor, who previously played John Lennon, also filmed an iconic sequence at Pinewood Studios.

Other upcoming Bond contenders include Chiwetel Ejiofor at 7-1, Dan Stevens at 8-1, Richard Madden and Regé-Jean Page at 9-1. Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson of EON Productions have admitted that the next 007 will definitely be a man, but they are open to actors of any ethnicity.

Also, the new star will be in his mid-thirties, just like Aaron, which would rule out the likes of Tom Hardy and Idris Elba. Here’s hoping the next Bond announcement really is only a few months away.
