Next Bond’s favorite, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, finally rules on 007

Speculation about who will be the next James Bond has been rife in recent years ever since Daniel Craig exited the 007 franchise in such explosive fashion in No Time To Die. It’s been almost 20 years since the last round of Bond auditions, and they’ve already reportedly been going on in secret with Kick-Ass and Avengers: Age of Ulton star Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the frontrunner.

The 32-year-old is certainly the right age to start a career as Bond and has plenty of action film experience, most recently co-starring in Bullet Train with Brad Pitt.

Taylor-Johnson is also on the verge of becoming a star, having previously only starred in smaller movies and supported the big ones. With Kraven the Hunter later this year, though, that’s all about to change, so now is the perfect time for him to be cast as the new 007. And according to the insiders, he’s certainly headed down that path.

According to The Sun, sources previously said: “Aaron went on a screen test to be the next Bond in September and the producers and Barbara [Broccoli] I loved it. He’s now a favorite… Aaron has so impressed the bosses that he’s filmed one of the franchise’s famous cannon teaser scenes, something all Bond actors do. That move takes him one step closer to signing a deal. The heads of the brand were really impressed with his unique combination of acting intensity and his impressive catalog of action films.”

Taylor-Johnson is rumored to be announced as the new Bond in March. And now, for the first time since all this 007 rumor started swirling around him, the actor himself has spoken out and it all sounds very positive.

Taylor-Johnson leads the upcoming Bond odds at 5-2 alongside Henry Cavill, who was Craig’s runner-up at the Casino Royale auditions 18 years ago. Just behind them are James Norton at 7-2, Regé-Jean Page at 6-1, Tom Hardy at 7-1 and Jack Lowden at 10-1.

Fingers crossed that the announcement is only a few weeks away, as those rumors suggest.
