Andy Murray’s rigorous pre-season training regimen could be hampered after the Brit shared a gruesome hand injury on social media. The three-time Grand Slam champion was his own worst critic of his 2022 performances after his season ended on a whimper following some encouraging results.
Murray said he must work harder after his campaign ended miserably with a loss to veteran Giles Simon at the Paris Masters. The 35-year-old reached the final in Sydney and Stuttgart earlier in the season and saw a steady climb from 134th to top 50 in the world rankings.
And his slump in form could be attributed to a recurring problem with mystery cramps, but Murray made no excuses, vowing to test himself in the offseason as he plans to make further progress in 2023.
But Murray’s early preparations for January’s Australian Open could be hampered by a painful hand injury that he posted on an Instagram story. Murray posted a photo of his injured hand Tuesday with a “fed up” emoji.

“After that I’ll play more tournaments on hard courts, then hopefully on clay, and then I’ll be back in the UK for the grass court season.”
He added: “For now, I’m still focused on playing tennis and winning matches,” Murray added. “I am pleased with my progress this year, but there are definitely some areas to improve.
“I’ll be doing a training block in December, so we’re hoping to identify some of those areas and work on them, so hopefully I can get more wins under my belt next year.”
