Martial ‘attacks youth player’ in Man Utd training raid

Manchester United star Anthony Martial was reportedly involved in a training ground raid with youth star Dan Gore on Wednesday. The couple had to be separated, it has been claimed, and the incident has left Erik ten Hag with another problem to overcome, with the Cristiano Ronaldo saga still fresh in his mind.

Tensions are high at United at the moment, despite many stars not even being present at Carrington due to the World Cup in Qatar. One player surprisingly overlooked by his international coach is Martial, who was not called up by Didier Deschamps despite his growing injured list.

According to Mirror, Martial was on the receiving end of a forceful tackle from U-18 star Gore and furiously approached the teenager. Tempers flared as Martial ‘attacked’ the academy product, trapping him.

Gore is believed to have “held his own” in the confrontation before the two players quickly parted ways. The training session was then halted while Ten Hag dealt with the incident, eager to resolve the matter before the senior players were given a mid-season break.

Martial has shined under Ten Hag so far this season, although his injury problems have made it difficult for the former Monaco star to have a consistent run in the side. Although Ronaldo’s explosive interview, which is likely to see him sacked, means the door is open for Martial to make the striker stand out at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag has praised the 26-year-old, and Dimitar Berbatov is also a big fan of the versatile striker. He told the United club site: “I have my love for certain players at the [current United] equipment. For Anthony Martial, it’s because he used to play with him. I want to see him play, I want to see him go out and do what he can do. I hope he can stay fit, and that goes for every player, for sure.”
