Just a few days ago, on January 8, Lisa Marie broke her reclusive lifestyle to come to her childhood home in Graceland for a special occasion to celebrate the King’s birthday. She even gave a short speech, which drew immediate concern from fans around the world watching the live broadcast. Elvis’ only son has barely been seen in public since the death of his son Benjamin Keough on July 12, 2020 and has been largely absent from social media. Those who were watching also knew that the Memphis mansion grounds had become an even more troubling location for the grieving star. Over the years, Lisa Marie had revealed her angst about the “fucking backyard” at Graceland. After all, it’s where her own father, Elvis, is buried, along with her parents Vernon and Gladys Presley, and her grandmother Minnie Mae. But no one could have expected that Lisa Marie’s only son would join them in the special Meditation Garden plot.
Last August, he wrote a special article for People magazine on the occasion of the National Pain Awareness Day, describing how her grief over Benjamin’s death had never abated and left her “destroyed”.
However, Lisa Marie stood on the grounds of Graceland before a throng of fans and thousands of viewers online to give a little speech to celebrate her father.
Lisa Marie said, “Thank you. It’s been a while. I missed you guys. I keep saying you’re the only people who can get me out of my house. I’m not kidding!”
“I love you too and that’s why I’m here. So today I would have been 88. It’s hard to believe. And I think I would be proud… I really appreciate you coming from all over the world.” and it’s really touching for me and my family, and thank you.”
She also paid tribute to the recent Baz Luhrman biopic Elvis about her father: “I think this year has been amazing. I think the movie was amazing and I’m so proud of it. I hope you are too.”

Even so, the 54-year-old was clearly happy to be a part of her father’s annual celebrations and carried out the ceremonial cutting of a huge birthday cake.
Two days later she was at the Golden Globes with her mother Priscilla, helping support Luhrman’s film, which won Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama for lead Austin Butler. Lisa Marie has expressed her praise for the biopic, which has brought her back to public attention. She’ll almost certainly feature heavily at the upcoming Oscars, but Lisa Marie tragically won’t be there to see it.
After going into cardiac arrest at her home on January 12, Lisa Marie was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Priscilla announced the news to the world in an official statement: “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla Presley said in a statement obtained by AP. “She was the most passionate, strong, loving woman I have ever met.”
