It’s been half a year since the Elvis movie hit theaters and as awards season kicks off with the Golden Globes tonight, director Baz Luhrmann and King star Austin Butler are hoping to score some gongs. . Last Sunday was what would have been Elvis Presley’s 88th birthday, which his daughter Lisa Marie Presley celebrated with fans outside Graceland. There, the 54-year-old shared how “so proud” her father would have been of the film before flying back to Los Angeles for a special birthday party in her honor with Austin and Baz.
Lisa Marie has returned to the public eye after stepping back two years ago following the tragic death of her 27-year-old son Benjamin Keough, who is now buried by his grandfather at Graceland. Austin and Baz were joined by Elvis’s daughter as they attended the pre-Golden Globes birthday party Sunday night at West Holiday’s Formosa Café, an establishment the King frequented.
Today, the film’s director shared a video of the exclusive party, which was also attended by Elvis’s granddaughter, Riley Keough. In the pictures, which included a large birthday cake, Baz said: “It was great sharing ELVIS’s birthday with Lisa Marie Presley, Riley, friends, family and everyone who, in the spirit of ELVIS, went to theaters. In fact, it was a happy birthday and a legacy celebration!” He and Austin are both up for awards tonight at the Golden Globes.
Elvis is nominated for three Golden Globes: Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Director – Motion Picture and Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama. As for the odds, Elvis is 14-1 to win Best Picture and Baz is 9-1 to win Best Director. However, Austin has a very good chance of winning 1-2 for Best Actor for his impressive performance as The King, over Brendan Fraser for The Whale.
Often this award ceremony gives a good idea of who will win the Oscar. However, the Elvis star sits third in Academy Awards odds at 5-1 behind favorite Fraser at 4/5 and The Banshee of Inisherin’s Colin Farrell at 11-4. Whatever the case, Lisa Marie loved the cinematic biopic of her father’s life for “finally getting it right,” as she shared in her glowing review of it.

(If he doesn’t get an Oscar for this, I’ll eat my own foot, haha.) You can feel and witness Baz’s pure love, care, and respect for my father throughout this beautiful film, and it’s finally something I Myself and my children and their children can be proud forever.”

I had seen before. previously experienced. It breaks my heart that my son is not here to see it. He would have loved it too. I can’t tell you how much I love this movie and I hope you love it too. Everyone involved poured their hearts and souls into it, which is evident in their performances.
