After the release of No Time To Die in theaters in 2021, the search for Daniel Craig’s replacement has been on. The British star played James Bond for 15 years in five films and certainly left his mark on the character. Moving forward, Bond bosses have confirmed that they will announce the next actor to take over in the coming months, and now the first details of the casting process have been revealed. And, unexpectedly, everything seems to depend on a Marvel actor.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson has recently been exploding on the Bond odds. After the likes of Regé-Jean Page and Henry Cavill topped the charts, Taylor-Johnson swooped in to decimate the opposition.
It wasn’t entirely clear why the former Marvel star had risen to the top of the stakes, but the latest news from Hollywood seems to confirm that the gears are turning in the offices of Bond bosses Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson. .

This bit of information is big news considering that, as of yet, Bond fans are unaware of any behind-the-scenes conversations regarding Craig’s replacement.
A sad update for Tom Hardy
Taylor-Johnson is a fantastic candidate for Bond. The 32-year-old is just the right age to take on a new franchise for a decade, as well as being a fantastic actor, proven in Avengers: Age of Ultron and the recently released Bullet Train. The British star has also shown that he can sustain an audience throughout a franchise, after leading the series Kick-Ass in the early 2010s.
With such a powerful pedigree, Taylor-Johnson was already a promising contender for the title of Next James Bond, but with the news of this closed-door meeting, he may have already begun to claim the role for himself.
Furthermore, Taylor-Johnson has been given a 2/1 odds for Ladbrokes, making him the strongest candidate the fans have at the moment.
This, of course, marks some major bad news for Tom Hardy.
Hardy has been on the minds of James Bond fans for some time. The obsession with the Venom actor began when rumors claimed that he had already been secretly cast as James Bond in 2020, but these claims were never confirmed or denied.
Since then, he has held a strong position in the Bond odds, with Ladbrokes giving him a tough 8/1 to land the role.
The British public even declared Hardy their favorite for the next James Bond star.
Unfortunately, with Taylor-Johnson grabbing headlines with news of this meeting with Bond’s bosses, it looks like Hardy might be out of luck.
Elsewhere in the Bond odds is Henry Cavill, holding on to second place with all his might. The former Superman and Witcher actor is currently 5/2 to become the hero.
He’s going up against former Bridgerton heartthrob Page, who also has some amazing odds. He has become a firm favorite with punters at 6/1.
Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati said: “Aaron Taylor-Johnson bursts into the New Year as our surprising 007 favourite, although we’ve seen early interest in James Norton this month, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see his odds drop as a result of Los following days.”
