Henry Cavill fans devastated when Superman star was fired by DC

Henry Cavill Superman fans have been waiting years in the hope that Warner Bros. will bring back their Man of Steel. Incredibly, Dwayne Johnson managed to broker a return, which sent audiences into a frenzy when they saw him in the Black Adam end credits scene last October. Following the release of the blockbuster, the Clark Kent actor himself took to social media to confirm his long-awaited return saying, “My friends, a little taste of what’s to come. The dawn of renewed hope. Thank you for your patience, it will be rewarded.” But now those dreams have been totally and completely crushed.

Warner Bros has had a shakeup at DC, with the hiring of Marvel head James Gunn and Peter Safran to head the newly renamed DC Studios and its DCU. And it wasn’t long before The Hollywood Reporter shared that the pair were planning a new narrative structure for the franchise, one that would move away from Zack Snyder’s Justice League characters.

As a result, Wonder Woman 3 has been cancelled, Black Adam 2 probably won’t happen, nor will a rumored Man of Steel 2. The outlet admitted that Cavill’s situation is “more than a little thorny,” especially after his appearance in Black Adam. . and the fact that he filmed a Superman cameo in next year’s The Flash.

Gunn has since dispelled rumors on Twitter that he doesn’t like Cavill’s Man of Steel and confirmed that he has big plans for Kal-El in the DC franchise going forward. However, it turns out those plans don’t include the original actor who returned less than two months ago.

Fans’ worst fears were realized when Cavill took to social media to share the tragic news that his Superman will no longer be returning to the DC franchise.

The 39-year-old wrote on Instagram: “Just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and sad news for everyone. After all, I’m not coming back as Superman. After the studio told me to announce my comeback in October, before he was hired, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life. The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and everyone involved in the new universe the best of luck and the happiest of fortunes.”

The Man of Steel star then thanked his fans for standing by him through all these years.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF HENRY CAVILL’S ORIGINAL RETURN OF SUPERMAN: Henry Cavill fans ‘cry’ over latest Superman news and ‘promises’

Cavill continued: “For those who have been by my side over the years…we may cry a little, but then we must remember…Superman is still around. Everything he stands for still exists, and the examples he gives us are still there! My turn to wear the cape has passed, but what Superman represents will never pass. It’s been a fun ride with all of you, onward and upward.”

Aquaman and Shazam stars Jason Momoa and Zachary Levi commented on the post, “Love you bro” and “Hope to see you in another universe sir.” Distraught fans joined the duel in the comments section, with one saying, “What? And the Black Adam scene? Damn…so sad”, another wailing, “Wow. Incredible. DC is in shambles” and one that reads “Sad about this. You embodied the character on and off screen. Looking forward to everything you do and excited to see the other characters you will bring to life in the future. Hugs.”

In the wake of the news, Gunn’s Superman reboot was announced, one that won’t be an origin story.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new Superman movie will star a new, younger Man of Steel actor. At this stage, Gunn is writing the script, but he could also end up directing the blockbuster.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 director wrote on Twitter: “Peter and I have a DC slate out of the box which we couldn’t be more excited about; we will be able to share exciting information about our first projects early in the new year. Among those on the list is Superman. In the early stages, our story will focus on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill. But we just had a great meeting with Henry and we are huge fans and we talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future.”

From the sounds of it, Cavill could end up playing a different DC character in Gunn’s new universe. But in the meantime, there are reports that the actor has signed on for Avatar 4 and let’s not forget that he’s also the bookies’ favorite to be the next James Bond.
