Hamilton reflects on worst season as Brit admits ‘I’m glad it’s over’

“I feel like this year when we got our first fifth, it felt like a win. When we got our first quarter, it felt like a victory. When we got our first podium it felt like a win, and those second places felt like we really accomplished something, so I’ll hold on to that.”

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has revealed the team plans to put its W13 on display at its Brackley factory to motivate them to do better next year, just a day after Hamilton insisted he hoped never to drive the car again.

And Hamilton, who finished second in three consecutive races in the United States, Mexico and Brazil, is hopeful that in 2023 the team will return to normal.

“I always believed, until the last race, that there was the possibility of [to win]”, he added. “I think it’s very important to hold on to hope and keep working. We gave it our all and I think this last race was almost like the summary of the whole season… I’m glad it’s over.”
