The GTA 6 rumor mill has gone into overdrive once again, with signs pointing to a possible reveal this week. Rockstar Games has already confirmed the existence of GTA 6 and said that official news about the next Grand Theft Auto game will come “soon”. And while we don’t know how soon that will be, fans are wondering if the GTA 6 reveal trailer could end this week around the time of Vice City’s anniversary.
Saturday October 29th will mark 20 years to the day GTA Vice City first launched on PS2.
And in the lead up to this historic event, the official Sony TikTok account sparked speculation that a GTA 6 reveal could be happening at the time.
It all started when Sony TikTok shared a video of GTA San Andreas playing on a huge big screen TV. Alongside it, Sony captioned it: “point of view: Load one of the most iconic intro songs onto your PS2.”
In response, there were hundreds of comments, but one exchange in particular caught the attention of gamers waiting for GTA 6.
One user wrote: “GTA Vice City intro please.”
And responding to that, Sony TikTok mentioned that the game’s 20th anniversary is coming up along with the emoji eyes.
The use of this emoji led fans to think that something big could be happening at the time of GTA Vice City’s birthday, with the GTA 6 reveal being the obvious candidate, as the game is expected to be set in Vice City.
Responding to the comment, one TikTok user wrote: “Sony they are taking your comment wrong, THEY ARE SAYING THE GTA 6 TRAILER IS ABOUT TO JUMP.”
While another added: “gta teaser or trailer?”
This could of course just be an innocuous comment with nothing to see here.
But there are reasons to think that we could be nearing the end of the long wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 news.
One of the biggest reasons to think a GTA 6 reveal could be just around the corner is that Rockstar parent company Take Two has an investor call scheduled for November.
And, historically, big-name new Rockstar games like Red Dead Redemption 2 have been revealed in the lead up to one of these earnings calls.
The long-awaited reveal of GTA 6 would give investors plenty of reasons to smile, especially after the recent and confirmed leak of early development assets for the next Grand Theft Auto game.
This shocking news happened in September, and Rockstar subsequently released a statement not only confirming that the leak was genuine, but also assuring fans that more news about the long-awaited game would be coming soon.
In its most recent update on GTA 6 last month, Rockstar Games said: “Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to providing you, our players, with an experience that truly exceeds our expectations.” .
“We’ll update everyone again soon, and of course we’ll properly introduce the next game to you when it’s ready.”
Rockstar also said that the leak would not delay the release date of GTA 6.
A release window for GTA 6 has not been announced, but it is believed that it could be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S around 2024 or 2025.
