Fury ‘should be ashamed’ of Chisora fight says Ortiz

Tyson Fury has been trashed by Luis Ortiz for choosing to face Derek Chisora next. The Cuban veteran has claimed that he was willing to take on Fury after the Anthony Joshua fight fell through, but The Gypsy King ‘passed him over’.
Ortiz is coming off a loss in his last outing to Andy Ruiz Jr on September 4 in a WBC semifinal elimination bout. Despite the loss, Ortiz is still ranked No. 6 in Ring magazine rankings and has no future fight.
King Kong states that he was willing to intervene on December 3, but was passed over due to his recent defeat.
“I think even less of the big Fury dossier. He claims to want to fight the best. He says [Anthony] Joshua didn’t want to fight him, and that [Oleksandr] Usyk didn’t want to fight him. He was in the top 10 at Boxrec and he didn’t pick me because he was coming off a loss,” Ortiz told BoxingScene.com.
Fury and his promoter Frank Warren took a lot of flak for picking Chisora as the Mancunian’s next opponent, given that he already beat Del Boy twice in 2011 and 2014. Both bouts were convincing victories for Fury and the skills gap has since spread. it has only been enlarged. .
However, Warren claims that Chisora was the best option available to them coming out of the BoxRec rankings. “BoxRec is the most respected independent ranking, number one is Usyk, who we thought we were going to fight in December, but Usyk dropped out. Anthony Joshua, we lost a month on that, he’s out,” he said. i-D boxing.
“Deontay Wilder’s number three, he only fought for what is not available. Andy Ruiz is fighting Deontay Wilder in a final title eliminator. Then you have Dillian Whyte, who he just beat.
“Then you have Joe Joyce, who is unavailable because he recently fought and is on vacation. Then you have Luis Ortiz who we couldn’t do anything with. Then you have Joseph Parker, who was beaten by Joe Joyce and next up at number nine is Derek Chisora.”
