Five Tottenham could target if Son Heung-min leaves Real Madrid

Tottenham fans were rattled by recent reports suggesting Son Heung-min was weighing up his future at the club. Real Madrid are known to be keeping an eye on the player with manager Carlo Ancelotti, a huge fan of the player he came up against when he was manager at Everton and the Spanish giants could be ready to make a move for the winger in the coming months.

Here, Express Sport looks at the options available to Antonio Conte should the South Korean decide to move on as he looks to a future without one of his best players.

Tottenham were heavily linked with a move for the former Manchester United man over the summer and could rekindle their interest if Son decides to leave. The Dutchman is capable of playing both on the wing and up front, meaning he would come in as a similar replacement.

Depay’s contract at Barcelona expires at the end of the season and he could therefore be available for free next summer. It seems that he is the most likely option for Spurs at the moment if the South Korean moves to Spain.

Marco Asensio

One player who finds himself in a similar position to Depay’s is Marco Asensio, whose contract with Real Madrid also runs out next year. The 26-year-old has fallen out of favor in the Spanish capital and would be a good fit to swap places with Son as he looks to re-establish his career.

The winger has shown in the past that he is capable of performing at a high level and Spurs supporters hope he can recreate that form if he moves to north London and would be under huge pressure to match the performances of the current star of the club.

Arnaut Danjuma

Keeping the focus on La Liga, Danjuma is another option that could come in as a replacement for Son. Another who is comfortable both centrally and on the flanks, he has previously been linked with a move to Premier League sides such as Liverpool and West Ham. With an eye for goal, the Dutchman would help replicate the scoring threat originally offered by the player he would replace.

Allan Saint Maximin

Looking closer to home, Saint-Maximin could represent the best option available to the Spurs who currently reside in England. The Newcastle star is a box of tricks and would certainly help make the Lilywhites more pleasing to the eye, something that has been a major criticism from Conte’s side.

With Miguel Almiron’s rise to prominence, the Magpies may be more open to allowing the Frenchman to leave St James’ Park. However, while he is an exciting attacking presence, he doesn’t offer the same goal-scoring threat as Son and may not help ease offensive concerns.

Rafael Leao

The AC Milan star is another who is capable of playing both wing and midfield in a similar way to the South Korean and could therefore play a similar role at Spurs. The Portugal star has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea, so pursuing a move for him would also provide the added benefit of giving Spurs fans bragging rights over their London rivals.
