Fast and Furious was rejected by the rapper – Paul Walker took over

The Fast and the Furious hits ITV screens tonight at 10:15pm, showing the first steps of Paul Walker and Vin Diesel as Brian O’Conner and Dominic Toretto. But long before Walker became an international star playing the undercover cop, the franchise searched for an iconic rapper to join the series.

The Fast and Furious franchise has always worked closely with musicians in its nine films thus far. Ludacris is a mainstay of the series, while Cardi B, Bow Wow, Ja Rule, and even Iggy Azalea all had cameos or scenes in the series.

But it was Marshall Mathers, Eminem, who was the franchise’s first pick.

Rapper Stan was approached by Universal Studios to take on the now legendary role of Brian O’Conner in the first film in the series. However, his timing was completely off the mark.

At exactly the same time, Eminem was working on bringing his film debut, 8 Mile, to life. As a result, he was forced to turn down the offer of the Fast and Furious role, allowing him to focus on his role as B-Rabbit in the film. In the end, Eminem made the right decision. He later won an Oscar for his song from the Lose Yourself soundtrack.

The film’s soundtrack, which features Eminem, also went quadruple platinum.

However, Walker went on to play Brian, making him one of the faces of the franchise and beginning a loving friendship with Diesel.

That wasn’t the end of Eminem’s journey with the Fast and Furious franchise. Years later, he approached her once more. According to Fuse, Eminem was approached about joining the ranks of Furious 7 13 years later, in 2015.

This time, however, it was not for an acting role. Instead, Eminem was asked to contribute to the soundtrack with a song written for him.

But once again, the time was not right. At the same time, Eminem was working on a song for Jake Gyllenhaal’s 2015 film Southpaw.

Eminem reportedly did not want to contribute a song to Furious 7 because then he would have two songs competing on the charts at the same time.

As a result, he once again politely turned down the Fast and Furious job. Instead, Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth wrote the song See You Again together. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 and went 11x platinum in the US.
