Erik ten Hag instructs Man Utd to beat Liverpool striker Jhon Duran

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has reportedly asked his ‘associates’ to make their interest in Chicago Fire star Jhon Duran known. The teenager is proving to be good property, with numerous clubs in Europe keeping an eye on the striker.

Signing a striker is a priority at Old Trafford next summer, although that plan could be accelerated as Cristiano Ronaldo is above the requirements and wants to leave. His departure would leave Ten Hag without the No. 9 options, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial the only recognized players capable of being deployed in the middle.

Although Ten Hag already appears to have found his long-term striker option, with Sun informing that United ‘want to fight with Liverpool’ for the signing of Durán. The 18-year-old is becoming a major talent in MLS, with a move on the cards.

The Colombian’s agent is believed to have recently traveled to England to speak to interested clubs, and United have previously spoken to Duran’s side to let them know they are interested. The striker is only valued at roughly £10m, meaning he would be a low-risk acquisition by Ten Hag.

Speaking after his side drew 1-1 with Chelsea, the former Ajax boss said: “It’s the fourth game in 10 days and you see, especially with the strikers, there’s a bit of a lack of freshness, especially at the end, also then. You lack power and we didn’t score the goals. We already had to score in the first half and you make life easier for yourself.

“We had to change the system that we only faced each other once and that was against Sociedad in the first half. But we didn’t make the right decisions with the ball in the second half. We did not change enough and when we arrived in the last third we did not show serenity and patience, [if we had] So I’m sure we’ll create more chances against this Chelsea, but we didn’t.”
