England expected the XI to face the USA when Gareth Southgate decides to gamble

England boss Gareth Southgate is ready to gamble and select the same starting XI against the USA on Friday. Despite doubts about Harry Kane and Harry Maguire earlier this week, both players are ready to start again. Southgate is ready to resist the temptation to rotate despite a potentially tight schedule ahead and express sport is available to run for the Three Lions side.
Goalkeeper – Pickford
Jordan Pickford couldn’t do much with Iran’s two goals on Monday. He rarely lets England down on the big stage and is truly the number 1 for Southgate.
Despite conceding twice in the first game, Pickford didn’t get much action. He could be a lot busier tonight.
Defense: Trippier, Stones, Maguire, Shaw
Maguire has overcome the illness that caused him to go down in the second half against Iran. He proved some of his doubters wrong with a great performance at the back.
Kyle Walker is on the verge of returning to fitness, but once again he is ready to settle for a place on the bench, with Kieran Trippier at right-back. Stones will team up with Maguire in what has become a familiar pairing in tournament soccer.
Luke Shaw is the only outright left-back and he won’t lose his job.
Attack: Saka, Kane, Sterling
Kane underwent a precautionary ankle CT scan this week, but nothing unusual was found. He is the only player England cannot replace in this XI, so his fitness is critical to his chances.
Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling are set to be rewarded with another start following their scoring performances on Monday. Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish scored from the bench, while Callum Wilson also impressed.
But both are ready to look forward to their first tournament starts.
