Elvis’s daughter, Lisa Marie, worked in a British fish and chip shop.

Lisa Marie Presley may have been the daughter of the King of Rock and Roll, but did you know that she once helped work a fish and chip shop van? It’s been over a decade since Elvis Presley’s only son was seen wearing an apron serving food to hungry customers at a mobile establishment called Mr Chippy. Lisa Marie, 44 at the time, had moved to Rotherfield in East Sussex in 2010, where she is based the van.

According to Mail Online, Mr Chippy’s owner, Kim Scales, said at the time: “That was when she first moved into the village about two years ago. She is really interested in who people are and she wanted to know everything about our lives and how we live. We own the pub and a mobile fish and chip van but she said she had never heard of such a thing and said she wanted to work on it. She got on there with her son, but we all laughed because none of the locals realized who she was.”

Kim, who also owns The King’s Arms village pub, continued: “She served a local double fish pie and chips and he had no idea she was the daughter of Elvis Presley.”

The owner of Mr Chippy said that Lisa Marie liked to chat with the locals in the pub about some British favourites.

She said: “He loves fish and chips and drinks and eats at the pub all the time. She also likes a pint of Guinness! It was nice for her to have that normal experience. She would never have been able to do that in Los Angeles.”

Speaking in a BBC Radio 2 interview at the time, Lisa Marie said: “I lived in the same neighborhood for 17 years and I didn’t even know a neighbour. When I moved here, I received notes and flowers. That’s what I love. It’s simple, it’s not flash, it was the quality of life I needed.”

Elvis’s daughter added in another interview about living in England: “We have found the quality of life to be much more enriching and satisfying. Citizenship, culture, people and their beauty have reawakened me and softened some of my gloomy and irregular views on people and life. I can honestly say that I am the only person who came to England for the weather. I love the cold and the rain.”
