Elvis Presley met Linda Thompson in July 1972 and soon after, they began a passionate and loving relationship. A month later, Elvis’s divorce from Priscilla Presley was finalized on August 15, 1972. The couple had been separated for just over a year, but the King of Rock and Roll still hadn’t gotten over the emotional pain he endured when he discovered that Priscilla had tricked him.
In the early 1970s, Priscilla and Elvis became heavily involved in martial arts. Her instructor, Mike Stone, became a big part of their lives, but Priscilla took things to the next step.
She confessed in her memoir: “Mike exuded confidence and style, as well as a great deal of personal charm and wit. A deep friendship would develop. I was faced with the harsh realization that living the way I had for so long was very unnatural. and detrimental to my well-being. My relationship with Mike had now become an affair.”
Soon after, Priscilla realized that her relationship with Elvis was over. She told him that she was leaving and he started the long road towards divorcing her.
Once Elvis met Linda though, he knew he had a great way to get back at his adulterous ex-wife. Linda recently revealed that, as she spent more time with Elvis, she saw how she really felt about Priscilla’s affair.
Elvis and Priscilla worked hard to cultivate a strong co-parenting relationship for the benefit of Lisa Marie Presley, which is why they saw each other a lot.
Linda also confessed that she and Priscilla have found themselves on good terms over the years. She said, “I’m glad you saved [Elvis’ home] Graceland for the fans.” He said of their relationship: “We are neither enemies nor friends, but always cordial when we meet. smooth [Marie] and have kept in touch from time to time over the years.”
As friendly as Linda and Priscilla became, she noted that the recently released biopic, Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, was incorrect in portraying Priscilla as her savior. Linda complained: “Every time Elvis was hospitalized, I shared his room. The movie showed his ex-wife, Priscilla, at his bedside. She never even visited him, let alone stayed. Those last few years, I saved him.” life around ten to 12 times.”
Linda even recalled a dramatic case where she nearly choked on her own dinner.
She said: “He once fell asleep after taking a sleeping pill and dove head first into a bowl of chicken soup. I pulled him out because he would have choked.” And she added: “There were other occasions, but I’ll take them with me to the grave.”
Elvis and Linda finally broke up in December 1976, after she could no longer stand him being unfaithful.
