Death of Freddie Mercury – Brian May ‘I completely exaggerated because of the pain’
Brian responded, “Yeah, I think it helped. It was something I had to go through. Roger and I, I think, completely overreacted to Freddie’s death, if you can say that. In other words, we got so far down the road of trying to forget that we grieve too much and deny Queen’s existence for a while. I certainly know that I did.
“So to go back and finally face it and put together that final Queen album, Made In Heaven, was a wonderful and terrible thing to do. Wonderful, because you are saving all these final cuts that we had created together in those last moments when we were with Freddie. Terrible, because you are listening to his voice all day, polishing it, doing little things to optimize it, but he is not there ”.
The 75-year-old guitarist found this particularly difficult, as he explained.
