Charles Leclerc said he may never beat Max Verstappen to F1 glory

Charles Leclerc has been warned that he will not beat Max Verstappen for an F1 title if he remains at Ferrari. A massive 57 per cent of Express Sport readers said Leclerc will never win a single crown over Verstappen at the Scuderia.

It comes after a difficult season for the Monegasque, who saw his championship challenge end through a series of team strategy errors and driver mistakes. Only 43 per cent say he can still secure a championship crown with the Italian marquee, 15 years after the team’s last title.

The poll comes after Christian Klien claimed Leclerc was “just as talented” to challenge at the top. Klien told the F1 Nation podcast that many of Ferrari’s mistakes were due to his “unpredictable” car.

He stressed that his drivers were forced to push a “couple per cent more” as the team was on the defensive, which may have exacerbated the problem. He added, “I think Charles has the same talent. I want to say that some of the laps from pole position that he did this year were just incredible.

Ferrari was blamed for strategic mistakes during the Monaco, British and Hungarian Grands Prix. However, Leclerc also made a number of buggy mistakes during the Emilia Romagna and French Grands Prix.

But Ferrari seems unable to challenge at pure pace since the summer with Verstappen taking seven wins from eight races.
