However, the McLaren star hit the inside curb, which pushed his car out and into the path of the Ferrari. Norris’ left front tire slammed into the side of Leclerc’s car, sending him into the tire barrier.
Onboard footage shows Leclerc struggling with the car as it turns but was unable to regain control. After the incident, Leclerc’s race engineer asked the Monegasque if he was okay. But, Leclerc simply replied: “He is ad***”. Despite the contact, Leclerc and Norris were able to continue in the race.
Following the crash, the FIA was quick to confirm that both drivers were under investigation. Norris ultimately received a five-second penalty for causing a collision.
