Brian May shares Queen Ukraine concert to raise funds for refugees

Captioning an earlier post from the Queen and Paul Rodgers concert, Sir Brian wrote: “So many fond memories of great times in the Ukraine… our unforgettable night of performance in Freedom Square, Kharkiv in 2008. It seems incredible that peaceful Ukrainian life can be so meaninglessly destroyed in the 21st century. And it feels unbearable that the world can just watch and let it happen. We are all praying for peace for you dear friends. Bri”.

Queen and Paul Rodgers kicked off their Rock the Cosmos Tour in Kharkiv, Ukraine, in September 2008. The band had been approached to help the country’s Elena Pinchuk Anti-AIDS Foundation reach her youth. Performing in Kharkiv’s Freedom Square, the band played to more than 350,000 Ukrainians and at least 10 million watched at home. During that incredible night a live double album and a concert film of the performance were recorded.
